LOOKING AT THE ORDINARY THROUGH KANT'S EYES

Do you remember? 'The starry sky above me and the moral law within me.' There is a bit of a philosopher in each of us under Kant's supervision. Literally. Anna Stepchenko, the planner of the street art festival, scaled the eyes of the most famous figure of Königsberg.
You started as an event planner. How did you end up an artist?

Kant is Watching You is my first conscious creative experience of making something with my own hands. Usually, I just contemplate the art or deal with management and organization. This time, I felt like an artist.
Have you found your style yet?

Since I am used to being behind curtains and watching the art from a distance, I haven't figured out my individual style yet. I am inspired by everything emotional, no matter what it is. And also, by the ability to see the ordinary things a bit differently.

How did you come up with the Kant's Eyes series?

The series was part of Dolg art residence for the project called Kantian traditions in the cultural space of Kaliningrad, created in collaboration with Tania Almond. It was one of those moments where the idea came right away, without much thinking. I chose the location empirically — I walked and searched for a perfect spot for the eyes.
What do you do for a living?

I am a project manager in IT and art. I also teach English to kids.

What is your favorite place in Kaliningrad?

That's a good question. I like the sea, the Vistula spit and the port
